Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree from the department of English literature. Mitchell was employed as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). She joined NBC News Washington two years later as a general reporter. 1981 she started covering the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the Chief Correspondent to Congress. Mitchell was appointed the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. And the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell has appeared in the TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She was on the panel in the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell covered a wide range of important stories including the Iran Contra scandal, budget tax reforms as well as arms control. Mitchell travelled together with President Ronald Reagan many times to attend summits and discuss issues including that of the Iran Contra scandal.
